Stowmarket golf course is an established
challenging parkland course .The River Rat runs through the
middle of the course, adding that little bit extra to the
2nd and 5th holes, while the undulating Suffolk hills of the
back nine provide some of the most scenic views in Suffolk.
The greens however provide a real test, they are surrounded
by lush meadow grass making chipping and putting a real skill.
It is challenging enough for the English Golf Union to designate
it as a "Centre of Excellence" to use on a regular
basis to develop and train the county's best Junior Golfers.
Our short game area is a superb facility to develop the skills
needed to perfect this game, with slopes, a bunker, several
lengths of grass and room to hit long pitches. It is the complete
area for skill development.
Two magnificent practice areas provide a real practicing and
coaching experience. The long tree lined secluded areas are
big enough to hold 40 people practicing off quality fairway
grass.
The driving range is a 10 bay covered range with 4 outside
bays and has been based on the quality standard as the range
at the Belfry. The facility also supplies quality balls and
mats.
Next to the driving range is a 9 hole short course called
Skylarks. This offers many challenges, small greens and distances
between 90 - 230 yards which provide a real alternative way
to practice your game. Skylarks also boasts outstanding views
of the Rat Valley and surrounding Suffolk countryside.
